Chris Jeffrey has been working with glass for
over fourteen years, although it was only about three years ago that he quit
his day job as an attorney and opened a full-time studio in Barre,
Vermont. His stained glass windows
are commissioned for homes, businesses and religious institutions in Vermont
and beyond, by customers who appreciate his fine craftsmanship, meticulous
attention to detail and contagious excitement for the beauty of stained glass
and the possibilities it offers. Chris mastered stained glass craftsmanship at
Lawrence Ribbecke Studios in Burlington, Vermont, where he apprenticed for a
number of years. To further develop
his skills he has also take courses at the Studio Du Verre in Montreal and
the Glasgow School of Art. He draws
inspiration for his work from sources ranging from Frank Lloyd Wright and
Lous Tiffany, to contemporary European artists such as Ludwig Schaffrath and
Brian Clarke. He is adept at working
in many styles, from realistic landscapes and traditional Victorian designs
to colorful abstracts, and takes great pleasure in transforming his
customer’s ideas into beautiful pieces of art. In addition to stained glass, Chris also works
with fused glass, melting layers of glass together to make bowls and plates,
many of them incorporating etched designs that include spiritual symbols and
Chinese calligraphy. Chris’ fused
glass jewelry, using multi-colored dichroic glass, is especially popular, selling
in galleries throughout Vermont and the Northeast. To learn more about Chris, visit his web site at www.chrisjeffrey.com |
