Emerging Artists-Mt. Abraham High School Students
Art on Main, 25 C Main Street, Artists' Alley, Bristol, VT, presents a mixed media exhibition featuring the work of students from Mt. Abraham High School located in Bristol. The students whose work will be shown have demonstrated their potential as future artists and have been selected by their teachers to exhibit based upon the quality of their work. The show runs March 1- 31, with a reception to be held on Saturday, March 12, from 2-5 p.m. During the reception, there will be an opportunity to meet with the students following a talk by their teachers Elise Cleary, Linda Reynolds and Linda Thompson, as well as the students. Live music will be provided by students from Mt. Abraham. The talk, exhibition and reception are part of a year long series at Bristol's community art center and cooperative artists' gallery. The series is free and open to the public.
Youth Art Month is observed each march and promoted by the council for Art Education and the National Art Education Association. This is a national event to celebrate and promote arts in education and to emphasize its value for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs.
Youth Art Month provides a forum for acknowledging skills that are fostered through experience in the visual arts that are not possible in other subjects offered in the curriculum. One of the purposes of the month is "to increase community understanding and interest in art and art education through involvement in art exhibits, workshops, and other creative venues."
Art on Main is pleased to be able to provide a venue where developing amateur artists can show their work to the public and experience firsthand some of the commercial aspects of being a professional artist by exhibiting their work in a gallery.
For directions or more information, please call Art on Main at 453-4032, or e-mail email@example.com. The gallery is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10-6 and Sunday and Monday by chance or appointment beginning in January through May.
